When our INPEx team convenes a CEO Forum, the topic of Board Development is always the first subject the peer group wants to tackle. And it is no surprise - a healthy, functioning board is critical to any nonprofit organization's success. And the task of board management and development is a never ending challenge, because as the organization evolves, so must the role of the board, with the emphasis on "must."

In the course of our consulting assignments with hundreds of organizations, we have encountered the whole continuum of board challenges. This experience has empowered us with two unique assets to help you with your board issues, and they are:

  • A "kit" of analytical tools. These analytical tools allow us, with utmost efficiency, approach even the most sensitive board issues by getting the facts of the situation out on the table for debate, consideration and action.
  • Our experience. Having seen every possible board situation, we know one thing for sure - we have not in fact seen it all. But we do know how to apply the lessons we have learned from scores of similar encounters to help you take action to develop a healthier, more functional board.

The following chart illustrates just some of the Actions we can help you to take when together, we leverage our tool kit and our experience.

These are the action steps that lead to improved board performance, which leads directly to improved organization success. How can we say that? This next graph indicates just how. It plots the quantitative measures of board performance and financial performance for a large, random sampling of actual non profits we have served over the years, and the relationship is almost linear. Better board performance yields better financial performance - period.
